We have spent many years splitting hairs on this topic.  Many hours mixing dyes and pigments, and than comparing samples to one another and to furniture in general.  The partners here have done the craziest things in order to achieve the perfect mahogany color for the mahogany dining room tables and chairs collection you see on this site.  This site salvaged many perfectly good dressers and junked them into pieces just to send them oversees for the prefect color. But, rather than boring you with all that, lets get down to the perfect shades of mahogany as they pertain to our furniture online and how they will fit in your home's decor.

We separate mahogany furniture finishes into 2 major color categories.
  1.  Red
    • Mahogany
  2. No Red
    • Walnut
Now that is what I call simple!  Our mahogany color has very little red and the red color pigments are not really visible because they are drained or diluted with yellows and browns.  Some mahogany in the mass market will be have heavier red pigments in them and that furniture will look more like merlot or blood red. We do not stock those red rich colors in our store.  We have developed a mahogany color which has just enough of red to keep everyone happy.  We call it magic mahogany around here because you can put this color mahogany alongside any shade of mahogany and it looks great. Than, you have those who crucify the color red and ask for no red at all.  We call this color walnut.  There is no red pigment in this at all, and it is a golden brown.
The below picture, shows our walnut color on the left, and our mahogany finish on the right.  Now most people will mix and match these two colors in there furnishings and rightfully so. Both colors have alot in common. They both have brown and yellow pigments.  And, our mahogany has such little red that it will not look like lipstick when you put it alongside walnuts. That is key and that is very important to us as furniture manufacturers and furniture designers.  You can mix walnut and mahogany to keep your space acclectic as long as you don't push the envelope channel and slip with the red pigments.  And, just as easy as it is to have too much red, walnut can get a little to green in the mass market.  Green, although not visible to most peoples eyes, is terrible when along side mahogany.  We have split this hair many times and you can be certain your headed in the right direection when shopping for mahogany furniture on this site.  Keep in mind, we have sample mahogany finishes prepared in both colors for your consideration. Here is a link, which would allow you to get someMahogany finishes and walnut finishes for mahogany furniture of these samples
