Shipping High End Furniture like ours out on pallets is not our first choice as a shipping method. However, certain situations do call for it. When these situations arise we have a strick process we follow very closely. This blog points out the "Science" of pallet shipping Fine Furniture.

In this example one of our customers needed her Dining Table as soon as possible, she asked that we send it via UPS on a pallet.

Before anything even comes close to a pallet it is wrapped, protected, boxed, etc.. you can find more information about how we prepare furniture in the "Shipping Furniture" blogs or on Our main site.

Now its time to go on the pallet. We start by placing large layers of cardboard down on the pallet itself, we then place bubble wrap and Styrofoam on top of the cardboard. We do this to provide an “air-ride” type system, this helps to avoid damage to the Mahogany Table edges if the carrier truck happens to hit potholes. Once the pallet is ready we start with the two halves of the table which were disassembled from the slides allowing us to put them into individual boxes. For this order we started by placing the two table halves face to face in the center of the pallet standing upright, making sure the pallet sticks out further then the furniture boxes. This helps prevent anything from hitting the pallet and damaging the faces of the Dining Room Table halves. Then the leaves are placed so that the faces inside of the box face towards the center of the pallet. The pedestal boxes and table slides are the last things to go on the pallet. The excess cardboard we originally placed on the pallet that is sticking out from under the Furniture boxes is folded upward around the Furniture. We place extra Styrofoam and cardboard all around the base to prevent any damage that may occur, specifically from forklifts. Everything is strapped together with black tight straps, shrink wrap, more black tight straps to connect the items to the pallet, and finally more shrink wrap. The whole process makes the pallet solid as a rock! By taking the extra time and care to do it this way we prevent many accidents and are able to ship Large Dining Tables, Oversized Tables, Pedestal Tables, Long dining Tables, just about anything we carry. Here is a picture of the finished product ready to go on the truck.  This pallet has a whole table, 3 leaves, 2 pedestals, and metal table slides.
