Kidney Shaped Desk with Optional Monitor Lift, An AP-Exclusive High-End Victorian Reproduction

Kidney-shaped desk with gilt-tooled black leather top.  A high-end antique reproduction with variegated walnut cross-banded raised panels, solid oak drawers, and black leather inset top.  This kidney desk sits on two cabinets and a privacy panel. The generous privacy panel has a removable rear panel revealing a storage area for a large surge protector or monitor lift. The top of the desk has a large hinged trap door with a half-moon cutout for cable management. The desk has graduated drawers on the left, 2 pencil drawers, and a large storage area on the right.  The doors and drawers have finely decorated brass pulls, which were made using traditional lost-wax castings.  Thedesk is a medium golden brown, which coordinates well with walnut and mahogany. The lightly distressed finish on this desk is the result of a meticulous, multi-step process that creates a warm, patina-rich appearance resembling a period piece.  The finish is forgiving, easy to touch up, and family-friendly.   The glazed black leather top has warm undertones and a gilt-tooling.

Inside the privacy panel, we’ve included and attached a removable solid wood mounting block, which has been sized and designed to accept a Nexus 21 Model L-23 monitor lift.  This mounting block can be used to mount the lift, or you can use it to mount a large surge protector.  The Nexus lift is manufactured in the USA, and it is quiet, solidly built, runs smoothly, and has no exposed gears or tracks that could catch wires. The lift will stop and reverse if an obstruction is detected during travel. You can use a wired control, a remote control, or both.  The monitor lift control box has both an AC and DC power inlet, so you can probably arrange to use this lift with a rechargeable battery pack.  Lastly, the lift comes with a small chip that can be used to “program” the lift so it always goes to your most comfortable height with one touch of a button.  FYI, the monitor bracket works seamlessly with any monitor that has VESA standard mounts.  This lift system installed adds $2,500 to the cost of the desk.
