Sturdy design. This table has a dark ebony (nearly opaque) stain but you can still see dark oak undertones in a bright room or in direct light. 

Most of the pictures shown here resemble normal dining light, where the table looks as dark as an espresso bean in real life. A few pictures were taken under intense light to show grain and to simulate direct light conditions.
